Description

This is a one day (10am-5pm with a 1 hour lunch break) workshop that is both lecture and hands-on laboratory exercises. We cover both theoretical and practical information that will help you get the best possible fluorescence images!

  • Lecturers: Jennifer Waters, Ph.D. & Anna Payne-Tobin Jost, Ph.D.
  • Additional Lab Instructors: Paula Montero-Llopis, Ph.D., & Michael Weber, Ph.D.

Topics covered include:

  • Fluorescence and fluorophores
  • Filter sets & other methods of wavelength selection
  • Choosing the best fluorophore and filter set combination
  • Alignment of the fluorescence light path
  • Resolution
  • Choosing the best objective lens for your experiment
  • Mounting your specimen for fluorescence microscopy


NIC@HMS Workshop Registration Cancellation Policy: If you register for an NIC@HMS workshop and find you cannot attend, you must cancel your registration at least 48 hours prior to the start time of the workshop. If you cancel within 48 hours of the workshop and you register for a future NIC@HMS workshop, you will be added to the end of the waitlist and allowed to attend only if space allows. If you are registered for an NIC@HMS workshop and do not attend, you will not be allowed to register in future NIC@HMS workshops and your registration in any future NIC@HMS workshops will be cancelled.Your registration confirmation email will include instructions on how to cancel your registration if necessary.
